What is on this calendar?
Everything of interest to NVBA members: the Thursday night unit game,
local and regional tournaments, the NABCs, and every weekly club game in
the unit.
How do I read it?
- An entry inside a day is one club game, with its
location and starting time.
- A colored bar across several days is a
tournament. Tournaments run several sessions a day, so they are drawn
as all-day spans rather than given a start time.
- Weeks run Monday to Sunday, which keeps Saturday
and Sunday side by side — a weekend tournament draws as one
bar across the top.
- Today's date is boxed in green. Days already
gone are grayed, and a finished game's links are switched off.
Tournaments are the exception — a finished tournament keeps its
link and points at the ACBL website tournament information page.
What can I click?
- Hovering the mouse pointer over the venue name
displays the director's name and other information.
- Clicking the venue name displays the
venue's map page with the street address and directions.
- Clicking a tournament bar goes to the ACBL
website schedule for that tournament with its events and times. Once
the tournament is over the same bar takes you to the
ACBL tournament information page. So paging back
through old months is a way of looking up completed tournament
results.
- Clicking the director's name on a phone
displays their contact information.
What do the colors and marks mean?
- Unit game — the
NVBA unit game is always listed first on Thursdays.
- Club game — a
weekly club game.
- NVBA,
WBL,
District 6 / STaC,
GNT,
NAP,
NABC,
other —
the tournament sponsor.
- Cancelled — struck
through, with the reason beside the red indicator. Cancelled games
remain shown on the calendar on purpose.
- Moved — the
display keeps the venue you were expecting, and the venue it moved
to is named underneath in bold. Click that name for the new
building's map and address.
- Invitational — a club you cannot
simply turn up to. You must call the director first to obtain
permission to play.
- RSVP — that game takes reservations;
the RSVP button links to the RSVP website.
How do I move around?
- The keyboard ← and → arrow keys page
through the months, the same as the two arrow buttons displayed in
the calendar header.
- Today returns to the current month and scrolls
today into view.
Can I see fewer things at once?
Yes — Uncheck Unit game,
Tournaments and/or Club games
in the header to hide that kind of game while you hunt for something. The
choice
follows you as you page through the months, and is forgotten when you
close the browser. This is particularly useful to see and plan for
upcoming tournaments.
It looks different on my phone
On a narrow screen, the calendar becomes a day-by-day list. The
list starts at today rather than the 1st day of the month.
Can I display this in my own calendar?
Yes — use the Subscribe buttons at the top.
Google Calendar and Apple / Outlook are one click;
Copy address gives you a URL to paste into other
calendaring systems. A subscription stays up to date on its own,
cancellations included.
