Dr. Lawrence Henry Shuman was born November 19, 1928, in Philadelphia, and died March 21, 2019, in Falls Church, Virginia. He practiced as an obstetrician/gynecologist in Alexandria, Virginia from 1963 to 1995, following his residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia and a fertility fellowship at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was also a Mohel in Northern Virginia, certified by both the conservative and reform movements.

Larry and his wife, Deanna, were longtime fixtures of the NVBA Unit Game, playing together as partners for years. He was fondly remembered by friends and colleagues as warm, welcoming, and a real mensch, with a wide circle of friends from his decades of medical practice and Jewish community life in Northern Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna; children Joshua, Andi, and Joanna; and five grandchildren.
