R. Craig Jennings was born October 17, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, one of four children. He attended Penn Charter School, as his father and grandfather had before him, then moved with his Navy family, graduating from Yokohama High School in Japan. He went on to Northwestern University and George Washington University Law School.

Craig survived childhood polio to lead an active life, and loved sports of all kinds — golf, the Washington Commanders, and 14 years coaching Little League. He was an avid bridge player and became a Life Master. After law school he joined the firm that became Slenker, Brandt, Jennings and Johnson, where he made partner, enjoying a long career in Northern Virginia before retiring at 75.

He died February 23, 2024, in Naples, Florida, surrounded by loved ones.

He is survived by his wife, Ann O. Jennings; his sons Steve, David, Garth, and Neill; his brother Jeff; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
